‘The Walking Dead’ Comes to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights

The Walking Dead Universal Halloween Horror Nights
AMC

In case you weren’t around to check out ‘The Walking Dead‘ Escape at Comic-Con 2012, Universal Studios has you covered.  On either coast, the amusement park’s traditional Halloween Horror Nights will now play host to AMC’s mega-hit zombie series ‘The Walking Dead,’ with an all-new haunted maze.  So when can you experience ‘The Walking Dead’ up-close and personal, and what are people saying about it?

In the first time Universal Studios has featured a TV-themed attraction at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando resort, today the company has announced that ‘The Walking Dead’ will shamble their way through Halloween Horror Nights, with its own elaborate haunted maze comprised of authentic, movie-quality sets that include some of the most iconic locations and scenes from the show.  Once there, mobs of undead walkers will portray the vicious zombies  from the series!

But don’t listen to us, here’s what the creative minds from both ‘The Walking Dead,’ Universal and AMC have to say!:

We want people to experience the same terror of the walker-filled reality our characters faced in seasons one and two – and will continue to face in our third season.  Our collaboration with Universal Studios’ creative teams is exciting as we work to truly capture the essence of the show.

- Greg Nicotero, Executive Producer and Make-Up Artist for ‘The Walking Dead’

With ‘The Walking Dead,’ we want to make fans of the series feel like they are literally walking in the footsteps of the show’s characters, experiencing all of the horrific events from the series just as they experienced them. The goal is to make guests of Halloween Horror Nights feel like they are trapped in the world of ‘The Walking Dead,’ using all of the attention to detail and movie-quality production values that Halloween Horror Nights has become famous for. You’re no longer sitting on a couch, watching a show…you’re living it!

- John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood
