Before 'The Walking Dead' season 3 shambles its way onto TV screens this fall, or even makes its way to Comic-Con 2012, we've still yet to get a good look at a few things.  Sure, we've gotten head on shots of The Governor, Michonne, or even Merle, but how long until we get a good look at the prison from the inside?  The latest photos have all the hack-and-slash you need!

Entertainment Weekly has cut through our Monday blues to deliver two brand-spanking-new photos from season 3 of 'The Walking Dead,' which won't officially debut until all the way in distant October.  In them, we get our first look inside the ominous prison walls, as a crew of Rick Grimes, Glenn, T-Dog, Maggie and fan-favorite Daryl Dixon stand back to back ready to clear out the walkers!

As fans of the comic series know, the ominous prison (first glimpsed in live-action at the end of season 2 finale "Beside the Dying Fire") needs quite a bit of work before it becomes a suitable haven for the survivors.  How closely the AMC series sticks to the comic remains to be seen, but suffice to say, the walking dead aren't the only threat lurking within the prison walls.  Says executive producer and show-runner Glen Mazzara of the set:

“I’m incredibly proud of the prison. I think our crew has done a great job. It’s a huge sense of scale and magnitude I haven’t seen on any other show as far as construction. What’s important to us is the prison itself is now a character in the show.

It’s a haunted house, it’s scary, it’s frightening, and there are parts of the prison that are always terrifying, that are always inaccessible to our group. It’s not necessarily the blessing that the prison in the comic book turned out to be.
