We're closer to the October 13 premiere of 'The Walking Dead' season 4 than we've ever been, though AMC's recent poster release only inflamed our hunger for more. While we wait for the latest from the breakout monster drama, a curious new production photo has shambled our way, while season 3 deleted scenes have revealed even more thoughtful subplots we might have missed out on.

Found via SpoilerTV, it seems as if the unreleased photo of season 4 depicts Rick and the others examining a corpse on prison grounds, though not one we can easily identify. Our guess would be that of Michonnne's horse "Flame," but might the mighty beast have fallen so quickly? Could this be the work of the mysterious new threat to the survivors we've been hearing about?

Meanwhile, two more deleted scenes from the season 3 Blu-ray release have emerged, showcasing intriguing new sides to sequences already glimpsed. The first presents an alternate, more hostile take on Michonne and Andrea's awakening in the Woodbury infirmary, while the second sees Carl bonding with Beth over baby Judith, and pondering the existence of Heaven in a zombie apocalypse. A bit meandering perhaps, but something that could well have contributed to the conversation of the season.

While we await the latest details from ‘The Walking Dead’ season 4, the next run of the AMC horror-drama will introduce ‘The Wire’ star Lawrence Gilliard, Jr. as comic character Bob Stookey, and upgrade actors Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green and Emily Kinney to series regulars. The series is confirmed to have begun casting three new roles exceptionally familiar to comic fans, while David Morrissey will also return in season 4 as a series regular, though beyond this season his involvement seems unlikely.
