Anyone who's watched 'The Walking Dead' knows that the zombie effects have steadily improved over two seasons, and grown far beyond most other portrayals of the living dead (seriously, watch a zombie movie from even 5 years ago).  But as the show gears up for season 3, did you know that the make-up and effects producers have the art of zombie-making down to a science?  The process only takes 90 minutes, but how would you like to see the full effect in 90 seconds?

Dr. Jenner of 'The Walking Dead' once said that it was impossible to determine exactly how long it takes for a dead human to rise up as a walker, but the producers of the show itself see things a little differently.  They've streamlined the process of turning an actor into a shambling, rotting corpse down to a mere 90 minutes, but how would you like to see how it's done?

As part of their upcoming 'The Walking Dead' season 3 preview issue, Entertainment Weekly has crafted a time-lapse feature of a woman undergoing the ghastly process direct from executive producer and VFX guru Greg Nicotero, to become one of the zombies featured in the horror series.  It all looks pretty gruesome, but we'd be most unnerved by the awful contact lenses that prevent most performers from seeing correctly.

Take a look at the process in the video here, and tell us what you think of the effects before 'The Walking Dead' season 3 premieres on AMC October 14!
