'The Wolverine' Offers Six Stylish Character ImagesDamon Houx |
Though it doesn't seem as noticeable in the trailers, 'The Wolverine' keeps releasing gorgeous, well-composed photos of the cast, which makes us wonder if this will be the most beautiful superhero movie yet. The latest stills to hit are character portraits that highlight Hugh Jackman's new friends and foes in the film.

And here are two of Yukio by herself:
Next there's an image of Mariko Yashida (Tao Okamoto) as the silent but deadly type:
And here's Svetlana Khodchenkova as Viper:
Finally, here's Will Yun Lee as Kenuichio Harada, also known as The Silver Samurai:
These images are stylish and sexy, which is not the norm for a comic book movie, but that's what director James Mangold hinted at when he name-checked Wong Kar-Wai's movies as his inspiration for the look of the film. But we'll know for sure when 'The Wolverine' opens July 26. Here's the film's synopsis:
Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
