'The Wolverine' Writer Makes a Scandalous Move, Set to Polish '50 Shades of Grey' ScriptNick Romano |
Mark Bomback, who has given us such screenplays as the action-heavy 'Live Free or Die Hard,' 'The Wolverine' and the upcoming 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,' has taken a unexpected turn. The writer is now set to tackle the script for '50 Shades of Grey.'
The Wrap first broke the news that Bomback is the latest to board the '50 Shades' team and will give the current script, by Kelly Marcel ('Saving Mr. Banks') and Patrick Marber ('Closer'), a polish. This definitely comes as a bit of a surprise, considering his credits, which also includes work on the 'Fast and Furious' franchise. Although, he did have a hand in penning Universal's upcoming 'Dracula' and he also wrote 'Deception,' the latter of which featured Michelle Williams, Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor, a sex club and murder.
'50 Shades of Grey,' adapted from E.L. James' scandalous and erotic novel of the same name, set Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan (replacing 'Sons of Anarchy' star Charlie Hunnam) in the lead roles of this SML-fantasy flick. Sam Taylor-Johnson is directing the feature, and 'True Blood' star Luke Grimes and Jennifer Ehle are the latest casting additions.
Recently, the film's production start date was pushed back to December 2, though its release slot of August 1, 2014 remains in tact.
