There's something always fun about actors imitating some of the most famous people in the world. Like when Bill Hader really nails an imitation on 'Saturday Night Live,' you find yourself drawn into really looking at the performance as you feel like some sort of essence has been captured. Looking at Toby Jones and Sienna Miller in this still from  'The Girl,' there's definitely some Alfred Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren in there.

Here's the full photo from The Daily Mail (and the Daily Mail has the original picture this is based on):

This is all being done for a BBC2 film directed by Julian Jarrold and it focuses on Hitch's relationship with Hedren. As anyone who's watched Hitchcock's body of work, the man has a tendency toward ice queen blonds, portaryed earlier by such actresses as Grace Kelly and Kim Novak. With Hedren, Hitch had her under contract, and one can sense he had complete control over her performances in 'The Birds' and 'Marnie.' Such has also led to claims that Hedren was never much of an actress.

I find this picture interesting, but often with these types of movie the actors doing drag becomes the focus. What's great about this (theoretically at least) is that their period working together is not only rife with subtext but also can only cover two films, so it won't have the normal boring crap of a bio-pic. The real hurdle of these films is finding the performance in the imitation, but Toby Jones has been one of the most sneakily brilliant performers going these days. Hopefully, this is a home run.
