If you’ve managed to catch any of Tom Hardy’s straitjacket-worthy Taboo trailers, you know FX has lost a few marbles over the star-studded Ridley Scott miniseries. That said, at least we know when our descent into madness will begin with a January 2017 premiere, and a brand-new trailer at that.

Where previously the FX eight-part series was set for an early 2017 debut, FX now formally confirms that the first episode will bow Tuesday, January 10 at 10:00 P.M. The new trailer above … won’t exactly clarify anything, but boy, that Tom Hardy is good at losing his sense.

The series stems from an idea between Hardy and his father Chips, starring House of Cards vet Michael Kelly, Game of Thrones stars Jonathan Pryce and Oona Chaplin, Pirates alum Tom Hollander, Boardwalk Empire criminal Stephen Graham, Sherlock writer Mark Gatiss, Franka Potente, David Hayman and more. So reads the official synopsis:

Set in 1814, Taboo follows James Keziah Delaney, a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back irrevocably changed. Believed to be long dead, he returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father’s shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself. But his father’s legacy is a poisoned chalice, and with enemies lurking in every dark corner, James must navigate increasingly complex territories to avoid his own death sentence. Encircled by conspiracy, murder, and betrayal, a dark family mystery unfolds in a combustible tale of love and treachery.

Hardy also executive produces with Ridley Scott and Locke alum Steven Knight. Watch the first trailers again below, and stay tuned for more.
