The best horror film of 2012, no question, was 'The Cabin in the Woods.' Written by Joss Whedon and directed by Drew Goddard, the film is as much a deconstruction of modern horror as it is an embrace of the very things that we love about the genre -- even the silly stuff. The film follows a group of friends who head off into a cabin in the woods (obviously), but once there, they find they're a part of something dark and sinister. I don't want to spoil the fun twists and turns for you, but 'The Cabin in the Woods' was not only the best horror movie this year -- it was the most fun you could have at the movies this year. Clever, imaginative, and well worth the three years we waited for this film to hit the theater, 'The Cabin in the Woods' is everything there is to love about horror delivered in a package that gives you something fresh and new -- and yes, damn bloody, too.
