I didn't go in to 'Lovely Molly' expecting to be blown away, given director Eduardo Sanchez's most famous film is 'The Blair Witch Project' -- and while there are certainly some found footage touches here and there, the film is a surprisingly soulful exploration of the mind of an addict, highlighting the true despair, horror, and hopelessness of its lead character, Molly, a woman who struggles to confront her past and overcome her addiction. There is one scene near the end of the film that is delightfully bizarre and incredibly powerful, proving that Sanchez is capable of walking the fine line between camp and horror, and while it's not always graceful, that particular moment was insanely effective.
