You might not be aware, but EuropaCorp is planning a reboot of the popular 'Transporter' action franchise, which starred Jason Statham as badass Frank Martin. And now the first flick has cast its leading man: Ed Skrein, the British actor who played Daario Naharis, the Khaleesi's love interest in the third season of 'Game of Thrones.' Is Skrein man enough to take on the role popularized by Statham?

Variety reports that Skrein, who left 'Game of Thrones' after season 3 and has been replaced by 'Treme' star Michiel Huisman, has been cast as Frank Martin in the new 'Transporter' reboot, which EuropaCorp is hoping will kickstart a new franchise. The film will dig deeper into Martin's origins, returning to the French Riviera, where the first film took place, and exploring the relationship between Martin and his father -- they're hoping to cast a big name for the father character.

The film is being written by Bill Collage and Adam Cooper, whose previous credits include the college comedy 'Accepted' and Brett Ratner's 'Tower Heist.' It will be directed by Camille Delamarre, who helmed 'Brick Mansion,' and produced by Luc Besson's EuropaCorp company.

EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert says of Skrein, "We searched everywhere to find a fresh face who had the potential to become an action movie star and we’ve found the right match with Ed Skrein, who’s not only a great actor but also has enough charisma and physical stamina to play Frank Martin."

So what do you guys think? Does Skrein have the goods to be next Jason Statham?
