Although Ubisoft already has a handful of announced games appearing at E3, which will release later this year, the publisher still has a few tricks up its sleeves. The company is rumored to be prepping a new racing franchise for next-gen consoles to debut at this year's convention.

According to the Examiner, Ubisoft will unveil The Crew at E3 in a few weeks. The racing game is being envisioned as a competitor to Forza Motorsport 5 and Gran Turismo 6, but there's very few other details about the prospective title.

It's believed the Ubisoft Reflections studio, the team behind Driver, is behind the unannounced IP, and there's a chance it could come to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, in addition to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

We'll be keeping a close eye on further E3 developments in the days leading up to the big show. Whether or not Ubisoft will be able to hang with the established big boys of the racing circuit remains to be seen, but there's always room for more at the table if the quality of the content is strong enough.
