Boy, this is a big weekend for premieres, eh?  Sure you had those swingin' '60's cats of 'Mad Men' this past Sunday, but on April 1 we'll be privy to the launch of not only season 2 of 'Game of Thrones' and 'The Killing,' but also on the lighter side season 2 of "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes' with the brand-new web-slinging 'Ultimate Spider-Man' by its side!

No doubt driving anticipation for the June release of 'The Amazing Spider-Man,' 'Ultimate Spider-Man' is the first cartoon adventure of the web-slinger to be produced by Marvel itself, and draws most of its inspiration from the Brian Michael Bendis comics of its namesake, with a little traditional canon and even a little 'Scott Pilgrim' thrown in for good measure.  'Ultimate Spider-Man' creator Brian Michael Bendis and DC animation legend Paul Dini will serve as writers and producers on the show, while 'Man of Action's Steven T. Seagle, Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, Duncan Rouleau, and the creators of the 'Ben 10' and 'Generator Rex' serve as supervising producers.

In the series, Peter Parker (Drake Bell) has saved lives and fought super-villains as the titular web-head for one year,  but is still in the process of learning how to be a superhero. Nick Fury (Chi McBride)offers Peter the chance to train to be a real superhero and become "The Ultimate Spider-Man," but first Peter will have to learn how to work with a team of four fellow teenage superheroes, including Luke Cage, Iron Fist, White Tiger and Nova.

Plus, how could we object to J.K. Simmons reprising his role as J. Jonah Jameson from the Sam Raimi films, and Clark Gregg taking up S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson for a little synergy with 'The Avengers?'

But why take our word for it, when you can check out Marvel's epic new preview for the series, chock full of interviews with the cast and crew, Stan Lee and plenty of new footage and details to tide you over for the coming season?  Watch the preview below, the Sunday April 1 premiere at 11 a.m. on Disney XD, and tell us if you like the new 'Scott Pilgrim'-ized take on the web-head 'Ultimate Spider-Man' in the comments below!
