‘Underworld: Blood Wars’ Trailer: We Lost a Lot of Good Vampires and Lycans in Those Wars
Not to confuse you or anything, but this is the first full official trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars — even though you may have understandably thought that the first trailer was, you know, the first one. But that was a “Legacy” trailer, which offered a little recap of the previous films along with a preview of the upcoming sequel. This is a “full official trailer,” which means it’s for Underworld veterans only. No newbies allowed.
“I’m done with that war,” says Kate Beckinsale’s vampire protagonist Selene. “It’s not done with you,” says her
fellow veteran from the trenches vampire pal David, played by Theo James. And that’s kind of all you need to know about Underworld: Blood Wars. Okay, fine: There’s ANOTHER war, and Selene has magical blood that all the vamps and Lycans (including new villains on both sides, played by Outlander’s Tobias Menzies and Sherlock’s Lara Pulver) want so they can become invincible. Oh, and they’re after Selene’s daughter, too, but she doesn’t know where her kid is — ugh, kids. So hard to keep tabs on them these days.
Anyhow, here’s the official synopsis for the new Underworld sequel, which also features the return of Charles Dance:
The next installment in the blockbuster franchise follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Underworld: Blood Wars hits theaters on January 6, 2017.
