You can never keep a good villain down, especially in the Marvel universe (emphasis on “good”), and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk was last seen itching for payback. So it is, that the Daredevil star claims he knows exactly when and where Kingpin will strike next, but which series might we see it in?

You’re warned of full Daredevil Season 2 spoilers from here on out, but it certainly looked as if Vincent D’Onofrio’s character was starting to piece together Matt Murdock’s nightlife, atop swearing revenge on the lawyers that put him in prison. There’s no telling when exactly the Kingpin might emerge from prison to finally seek out his enemies, but as D’Onofrio put it to Latino Review, Fisk is never too far out of reach, if the writing’s up to snuff:

There’s no giant commitment for me at Daredevil. Like I didn’t have to sign my life away at all. When [Jeph Loeb] tells me there’s something coming up and if I’m available, I’ll be there. And because it’s written so well, I’m going to show up. I’m going to do everything I can because the writing is so good. And then there’s a company like Netflix and they’re not pressuring you either. They just want good material, good content. They give you money to make good content, so they’re not pressuring actors to sign their life away either.... I think that there’s this common ground where they say, ‘Look, if the material is good are you going to show up?’ and I said, ‘Definitely’.”

Smart money’s on Fisk having a hand in the overall Defenders teamup, akin to Loki spurring the main conflict of The Avengers, but we only know for sure that Fisk’s old partners The Hand will continue to threaten the city. There’s always room for Fisk in Daredevil Season 3, or even The Punisher, but they’re likely to arrive in 2018 at the earliest. In the meantime, D’Onofrio added:

[When Kingpin's story might be continued] I can’t answer. I do know, but I can’t answer… so take that how you will. Jeff and Charlie (Cox) and Netflix love Kingpin, and so, Kingpin is good for Marvel’s television stuff and I think they agree.

It’s also possible that Luke Cage might touch on Wilson Fisk’s current state by the September 30 premiere, but are The Defenders better-served to deal with Kingpin earlier on?
