As horrible as it would be in real life, we're all a little bit in love with the idea of the zombie apocalypse.  Free reign over town, hapless blood-thirsty violence any time we like, its a paradise!  'The Walking Dead,' both comic and TV has given us a view into that paradise, but how would you like to live it?  This summer in San Diego, you're in luck!

Today 'Walking Dead' label Image Comics has announced a new live event to be presented at Petco Park this July, titled 'The Walking Dead: Escape."  In it, zombie apocalypse fans will have a chance to live their dreams of living Z-day as either a human or a walker by navigating a major obstacle course through the park!

Though not officially affiliated with this year's San Diego Comic-Con, 'The Walking Dead: Escape' conveniently syncs up by taking place July 12 through 15, with PETCO Park a mere 400 yards from the San Diego Convention center!  You'll want to sign up now, though.  Zombies might be accepted last-minute, but human reservations are going to book up quickly.

Those who take part in the event as survivors must “climb, crawl and slide in an effort to avoid confrontation by hordes of Walkers,” the press release said, adding that “is not a race, and Survivors are not timed, but the end is near, and they must move swiftly.”  Series creator Robert Kirkman had his own take on the event:

"We are literally transforming Petco Park into the early days of society’s collapse and San Diego is just the first city to fall."

You can learn more (including details and ticket prices) at the official website, but what say you?  Have you longed for the chance to portray one of the undead, or would you rather escape through Petco Park as a human?  Tell us if you'll be signing up in the comments, and we'll see you there!
