If there’s one thing that consistently bugs me about The Walking Dead (and yeah, there’s a lot), it’s the drab uniformity of walkers. What, no one died in a dinosaur costume, or hockey jersey? Thankfully, Season 8 is now set to break the mold with a – *checks notes* – fully nude zombie. Oh.

The arresting tidbit came in conversation with Entertainment Weekly and effects guru Greg Nicotero, who specified “There’s an episode where we did our first fully nude walker. We’ve never done that before.” Granted, no other details were available of the au naturale undead, but one imagines the actor in question took things a step further than the odd shirtless zombie seen shambling about the series.

The show itself has something of an odd relationship with mature content, as – for all its unimaginable gore – nothing more than implied nudity has ever been depicted onscreen. Standards have relaxed somewhat over eight seasons (including less restrictive use of the f-word), but it remains to be seen what state the aforementioned walker will be found in; that its “full” nudity will even register within the context of the scene.

Of course, walkers in various states of undress are hardly new for the zombie genre overall. The Walking Dead has taken extra care to showcase new levels of decay each season, but nonetheless tends to outfit its undead from the same racks of drab, dirtied and unremarkable wardrobe. Equal-opportunity nudity for all, I guess?

The Walking Dead will return for the second half of Season 8 on February 25.
