The problem with obsessively tracking movie news is that sometimes, the Powers That Be want you, the humble movie fan, to know as little as possible until the project is on firm ground. That's a good thing for the creative process but a bad thing for greedy, need-to-know film buffs like us! Anyway, the latest movie that has us intrigued despite knowing next to nothing is a science fiction film called 'The Wind.'

Here's what we know about 'The Wind': it's a science fiction film set on a space colony. The script is by blockbuster veteran David Koepp. Noted commercial director Nic Mathieu will be making his feature film debut in the director's chair.

And those are the hard facts, ladies and gentlemen. However, we are certainly allowed to speculate, aren't we?

Koepp writing the script suggests that this is not a small film. After all, he's the writer behind films like 'Jurassic Park,' 'Mission: Impossible,' 'Spider-Man' and 'War of the Worlds' (he also did some uncredited work on 'Men in Black 3'). He's not a writer who works small or cheap, so if he's writing 'The Wind,' it must be a film that has the folks with the purse strings ready to get generous.

Mathieu is a less known quantity, but at the link above, Heat Vision reports that he wowed Warner Bros. execs with his pitch for 'The Wind,' earning him the job instead of a more established filmmaker. Plenty of commercial and music video directors have made the leap to movies, so why can't Mathieu? His work selling products on the small screen is evidence that he can make things look really pretty, but we'll just have to see if he can tell a story. Here's one of his more famous ads, a Cadillac commercial that aired at the 2004 Super Bowl:
