Do you even know EDM, bro? Let your good bro friend Zac Efron introduce you to the world of Electronic Dance Music, the only way a good bro friend can: with tank tops, hot ladies, flashing lights and a refusal to play Beyoncé (who does he think he is?). That’s what you need to know about the trailer for We Are Your Friends. Oh, you should also know that it was directed by Max Joseph, Nev Schulman’s silver-haired co-bro on MTV’s Catfish: The TV Show.

Joseph makes his feature directing debut with We Are Your Friends, a movie that’s basically like that club downtown you go out of your way to avoid on weekends, featuring the crowds you go out of your way to avoid downtown on the weekends. The film stars Efron as an aspiring DJ (dream big, bro!) who’s on a mission to create the perfect track. His only problem appears to be people who want to jam to Beyoncé, and the fact that he’s fallen hard for his mentor-bro’s girlfriend.

Efron’s mentor is a fellow, older DJ named James, and I’m not sure there has ever been a more Wes Bentley character for Wes Bentley to play. His girlfriend is played by Emily Ratajkowski, of Robin Thicke music video and Gone Girl fame.

If you’re a cool bro or lady-bro who’s super into EDM, you may enjoy this film, which seems like it combines the worlds of Entourage (but less douchey) and Spring Breakers (but less awesome) to create one mega-bro world of bass-thumping fun. It’s like a party that never has to end, but if you’re like me, you’ll start to think about calling the cops on these noisy kiddos before you’re done watching the trailer.

Here’s the official synopsis:

‘We Are Your Friends’ is about what it takes to find your voice. Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife, an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Efron) spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James (Bentley), who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie (Ratajkowski). With Cole’s forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he is destined for.

We Are Your Friends also stars actor-bros Jon Bernthal and Shiloh Fernandez, and hits theaters on August 28.
