What We Do in the Shadows might have to spend a little time there before sequel We’re Wolves ever makes it to theaters, but a TV spinoff might have been unexpectedly greenlit. It seems Jemaine Clement and co-director Taika Waititi may move forward with a Paranormal Event Response Unit spinoff after all, at least in New Zealand.

Radio New Zealand reports (via /Film) that New Zealand On Air has offered a $1.4 million, six- episode order for the series, which last an American distributor as of yet. The series follows What We Do in the Shadows characters Karen and Mike (Karen O’Leary and Mike Minogue) as the two police offers protect citizens “from supernatural phenomena in their own police reality series.”

It remains to be seen exactly how much involvement Clement or Waititi (who has Thor: Ragnarok to worry about) will have, though New Zealand On Air chief executive Jane Wrightson said of the news, “We are delighted that Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi are bringing their talents to smaller screens in Paranormal Event Response Unit.”

We’ll see what becomes of distribution in this hemisphere, as well when We’re Wolves gets off the ground, but check out the What We Do in the Shadows trailer below for a taste of Paranormal Event Response Unit.
