One of Disney’s most ambitious productions of 2018 that doesn’t have the word “Avengers” in the title opens in less than two months. A Wrinkle in Time, from director Ava DuVernay, is based on the classic Madeleine L’Engle novel about a young girl on a dimension-spanning search for her missing father (beardy Chris Pine). A new featurette takes you behind the scenes of the massive production, and promises a blockbuster that is way beyond the ordinary. Here’s the official synopsis:

From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.

I mean this is just a big feel-good ad for the movie, but it’s hard not to be impressed by the look and scope of this production. If the finished film is even 25 percent as ambitious as everyone in this video makes it out to be, it will be a notable event on the 2018 cinematic calendar. A Wrinkle in Time opens in theaters on March 9.
