X-Men: Apocalypse continues to cast some of your favorite mutants to join the upcoming superhero sequel, with director Bryan Singer revealing that fan favorite Psylocke will be played by Olivia Munn.

Munn joins a cast that includes newcomers Ben Hardy as Angel, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Lana Condor as Jubilee and Tye Sheridan as Cyclops. They join returning stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy among others (Hugh Jackman and Wolverine are sitting this film out).

Psylocke (aka Betsy Braddock) had powers that originally included telepathy and mind control, but is probably best known for her telekinetic katana. She was a mostly unpopular character until a comic makeover in 1989 rebranded her with the name Psylocke, and newfound powers and an outfit so skimpy, she was practically half-naked.

The character previously appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand, where she was played by actress Meiling Melançon. The character didn't display any of her trademark powers (it was reported that the character wasn't even supposed to be Psylocke, but they changed the name at the last second to make it someone comic fans would recognize).

It's also not the first time Munn has appeared in a Marvel movie. She was cast in Iron Man 2 in a mysterious role and many fans were speculating she'd be playing Wasp. Turns out she was just playing a minor cameo as a reporter.

Singer announced the news today on Instagram:

Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Braddock! #Psylocke #XmenApocalypse #XMEN
