The cast for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' seems to be growing by the hour. Not only is Bryan Singer coming back to direct his third 'X-Men' movie, but many characters from the original trilogy are returning to join the new crop from 'First Class'. But what about one of the fan favorites -- Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler)?

Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Halle Berry (Storm), Patrick Stewart (Professor Xavier) and Ian McKellen (Magneto) are just some of the names already reprising their original 'X-Men' trilogy roles for 'Days of Future Past,' but many fans have expressed interest (no, a need) in seeing Alan Cumming BAMF into the new film as the teleporting, blue-skinned, devil-tailed Nightcrawler. Well, it doesn't look like fans need worry.

While it's probably not official at this time, since Bryan Singer hasn't announced it via his popular Twitter feed, James McAvoy, who's portraying the younger Professor X, seemed to have let it slip that Cumming will in fact return. In an interview with Heat Radio (via Comic Book Movie), he said:

It’s huge, the cast is huge. You got me, [Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender,] Nicholas Hoult will be back and he’s just blossoming massively over [in america]. Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage I hear mentioned – I don’t know if that’s happening – “Huge” Jackman is coming by. He’s massive, 7’5″ and muscle-ly.

UPDATE: Despite McAvoy's comments, Alan Cumming told Sirius XM radio (via X-MenFilms.com), "No, they haven’t [asked me to return]. Someone asked me that the other day and I said no. I know the one that’s coming up shoots this spring, but I wouldn’t be available anyways."

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' combines both casts from 'X-Men: First Class,' like the previously mentioned Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), McAvoy, Michael Fassbender (young Magneto) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast), with some of the original players, which also includes Shawn Ashmore (Iceman), Anna Paquin (Rogue) and Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde). For those unfamiliar with the 'Days of Future Past' storyline, presumably taken from the comics, the film will involve time travel as the future self of Kitty Pryde travels to the past to warn the X-Men of a history-altering attack on Senator Kelly that must be stopped.

Even though Alan Cumming's involvement is not official yet, it's not a stretch by any means to presume he'll also be joining in on the fun. What do you think? Do you want this 'X2' player to return? Let us know in the comments.
