New ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Photos Show Off Two Timelines of Mutants

X-Men Days of Future Past Stills Portraits
Fox

The main thrust of the advertising campaign for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past‘ is that the film will contain characters from both the original ‘X-Men‘ franchise and prequel film ‘X-Men: First Class,’ making this one of the biggest superhero movies ever made. Although the trailer and previous images have given us looks at this enormous ensemble of black leather-clad mutant warriors, the film’s official site revealed a series of character portraits, giving us our best look at 17 of the characters.

The portraits show off familiar faces, like Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine, Halle Berry‘s Storm, Patrick Stewart‘s Professor X, Ian McKellen‘s Magneto, Shawn Ashmore‘s Iceman and Ellen Page‘s Kitty Pryde, but it also offers us a glimpse at new ones, like Fan Bingbing as Blink, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Omar Sy as Bishop and Peter Dinkalge as Bolivar Trask. It’s definitely odd and excting to see a collection of photos where Jennifer Lawrence‘s Mystique stands alongside characters who have been around since the first ‘X-Men’ movie back in 2000 and that’s definitely the biggest appeal of this particular outing.

In addition, Fox released a batch of new stills from the film, which focus specifically on the ‘First Class’ actors, who exist in the ’70s while the others are part of the post-apocalyptic future. The story is taken from the famous ‘Days of Future Past’ comic book story arc and sees the X-Men of the future sending Wolverine back in time to prevent the inevitable destruction of mutant and humankind by the Sentinel robots.

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is directed by Bryan Singer and hits theaters on May 23. Check out the new character portraits below!
