There's a rich tradition among the superhero movie elite of studios offering up the all the goods (and by goods we mean footage) before their movies even hit theaters. (See 'Captain America 2' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2.') People wanna try before they buy, right? The same motto seems to apply to 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' which released even more photos, along with the latest magazine covers for the latest Total Film issue.

Since the first 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' trailer debuted, 20th Century Fox released a truckload of movie stills, those frustrating 10-15-second Instagram teasers, and those numerous Empire magazine covers. While another trailer is on the way, we're first getting to see another batch of images, courtesy of Total Film, showcasing the immense cast.

As 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' takes place in two different time periods, the '70s and the apocalyptic future, director Bryan Singer needed two generations of mutants -- or perhaps this was just the perfect excuse to meld together both casts of the original 'X-Men' trilogy with the 'First Class' successors for one epic geek extravaganza.

The film takes its name from the comic book story arc that sees a future riddled with mutant-killing Sentinel robots. To stop the extinction of mutantkind, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is sent back in time to warn the X-Men of the past of the life-altering moment that sets everything into motion.

'Days of Future Past' is set for release on May 23, and we'll keep a lookout for that trailer, but check out the latest pics in the meantime.
