Both Young Justice fans and stars alike spurred enough interest in a third season for Warner Bros. to finally make it happen, so it isn’t any surprise the majority of voice cast would be on-board. That said, one voice actor’s return does raise an interesting question about a Season 2 character’s fate, and how far West Season 3 might head.

It was back in November that Warner Bros. and DC made official that Young Justice Season 3 had begun production, returning producers Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman (Star Wars Rebels). That said, the initial announcement didn’t make clear an exact network, nor if the main cast had been hired back for their roles.

Current Walking Dead star Khary Payton had apparently confirmed his return as Kaldur’ahm (Aqualad), while it now seems that Jason Spisak is implying his return as Wally West, or Kid Flash:

That might not be too surprising on its own, save for the fact that the character was seemingly killed in the Season 2 finale, disappearing into an energy wave. It makes sense that Season 3 would address the character’s fate, but Spisak’s tweet would seem to confirm an explicit return, to say nothing of any additional time-jumps, or the tease of Darkseid’s debut.

So reads a preliminary Season 3 synopsis:

The Team is back and it’s “business as usual.” Warner Bros. Animation has begun production on a third season of all-new episodes of the acclaimed hit, action-animated series “Young Justice,” based on the characters from DC Entertainment. Season three promises new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes.

The series debuted in 2010 with a core team of Robin, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Aqualad, Superboy and Artemis, and expanded to feature numerous others like Beast Boy, Blue Beetle and Wonder Girl, alongside all the major heroes and villains of the DC universe. Voice cast has included everyone from Bruce Greenwood, to Danica McKellar, to Alan Tudyk, Tim Curry, Rob Lowe and Maggie Q.

We still don’t know when to expect additional details (sign up for updates here), but will Young Justice Season 3 give a satisfying answer to Wally’s disappearance? Where might the new series air?
