'You're The Worst' Officially the Best, Renewed for Season 3

Break out the Trash Juice, Gretchen and Jimmy are slowly eking their way out from under the garbage fire that is their relationship. FXX has officially renewed critical darling You’re the Worst for a third season in 2016, simultaneously signing creator Stephen Falk for an overall development deal of additional series.

Having moved to FXX from its first run on FX, the network confirms that You’re the Worst will return for Season 3 in summer of 2016, despite a fall premiere this year. The second season has been drawing to a close on FXX, tonight airing its twelfth of thirteen episodes “Other Things You Could Be Doing.”

Said FXX of the renewal / Falk deal:

Stephen is one of the best new talents in comedy - as funny, thoughtful and original as You’re the Worst and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next. You’re the Worst, already one of the most critically-acclaimed comedies on television, is also one of the most innovative, something Stephen and the cast will continue in the much-deserved third season. The daring turn this season, led by the honest and respectful portrayal of Gretchen’s depression, was a very courageous move for a comedy and another milestone for You’re the Worst.

You’re The Worst Season 2 has thus far featured Weeds and Tyrant star Justin Kirk and Tara Summers as a couple whose lives are thrown into chaos after meeting Gretchen (Aya Cash), along with Collette Wolfe as Edgar (Desmin Borges)’ new friend, The Office star Andy Buckley as Jimmy (Chris Geere)’s agent, and Hung / Spider-Man 2 star Mageina Tovah as Paul’s new love interest.
