This weekend 'Neighbors' crushed it at the box office as it made nearly fifty million dollars and is on track to make a whole lot more. This success has raised Zac Efron's profile, which means he's now talking to Marvel. Could he be our 'Doctor Strange?'

Latino Review reported that Efron has met with Marvel and has been given a script. They point to the upcoming 'Daredevil' Netflix series and 'Doctor Strange' as the most likely projects that Efron would be up for, though it's possible he could be introduced as a totally different character at the end of, say, 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' or 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' But going by what we know of Marvel's upcoming slate, 'Strange' seems like the most probable casting, and Marvel has definitely been talking with actors about the project. Efron playing 'Daredevil' seems less likely as he seemingly wants to build a film career, and though the Netflix series is promising, it wouldn't have the same oomph.

'Neighbors' was exactly the movie Efron needed to break out of his teen heartthrob past, and should open the door to other more adult roles, though Hollywood appeared to be grooming him for stardom. We had previously heard rumors that he was in contention for 'Star Wars: Episode 7' (which obviously didn't pan out), so teaming with Marvel may be the next best thing, even if it might require a decade-long commitment.
