Hot Toys Celebrates ‘The Dark Knight’ 10th Anniversary With New Joker and Batman Figures
Next year will be the 10th anniversary of the release of The Dark Knight, arguably one of the greatest superhero films ever made, and one of Christopher Nolan's most celebrated films. A lot of that is due to the performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker, which was sadly his last, but also one of his most iconic and memorable. His version of the Joker went from getting some of the most vitriol from fans in any casting announcement to becoming the version cosplayed and revered more than any other. In celebration of this anniversary, Hot Toys has announced an all-new quarter-scale version of its popular Joker figure, complete with a new portrait that honors the man behind the make-up.
Hot Toys’ Gladiator Hulk Rages Against Thor For New ‘Ragnarok’ Figures
On the heels of a sexy new trailer, Hot Toys has officially revealed the first few sixth-scale figures in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok collection. A number of characters from recent Marvel Cinematic Universe properties were teased at San Diego Comic-Con, but Thor and Hulk are the two best frenemies that have the distinction of releasing first. The first glimpses at these toys had us excited, but getting a more up-close and personal look at both Gladiator Hulk and the Roadworn Thor only makes us wish Thor: Ragnarok was being injected into our eyeballs right this very second.
Hasbro Goes Vintage And Brings Out Deadpool’s Big Guns At SDCC 2017
I don't know if you heard, but Marvel had quite the Comic-Con this past weekend. From new Thor: Ragnarok trailers, to special footage of Black Panther, and Captain Marvel movie details, it was hard not to have something to look forward to from the Marvel Universe. The big reveals didn't stop with the Marvel Studios panel however. Merchandising partner Hasbro had a lot of Marvel tricks up its sleeve, too. With new Defenders figures, Deadpool collectibles, and throwback toys, Comic-Con 2017 was one of Marvel Legends' strongest yet.
‘Pacific Rim Uprising’ Figures Offer a Detailed Look at New Jaegers
This week at Comic-Con, Pacific Rim Uprising got its first teaser video, finally giving us an official look at John Boyega and several of the new Jaegers in the sequel. Sadly, the bit of promotional propaganda was all too short, and it was a bit of a challenge to really grasp everything the new Jaegers would be bringing to the table. We still don’t know much about the plot for Uprising, and why there are once again so many Jaegers in commission. Not that we’re complaining. New mechs are always awesome, and thanks to Tamashii Nations, we have a much better idea of what three of the new Jaegers will look like in Uprising.
Spider-Man and Gamora Tear It Up In Latest ‘Marvel vs Capcom Infinite’ Trailer
You didn't think Capcom would let a Comic-Con come and go without bringing some of that Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite flavor to the event, did you? During yesterday's Marvel gaming panel, the publisher didn't just show up to talk; it came to deliver some spectacular additions to the galaxy-spanning roster for its upcoming fighting game. We already knew MVC Infinite was going to have some comic book heavy-hitters on the roster, but new additions Spider-Man and Gamora bring some box office mojo with them, too.
Sideshow Collectibles Taps The Biggest Heroes and Villains For SDCC 2017 Reveals
As one of Comic-Con's oldest guests, Sideshow Collectibles has one of the largest footprints at the annual San Diego event of any exhibitor. It's a good thing too because Sideshow hosts works from a number of companies it helps distribute in the states, as well as putting on a showcase for its own products. This year's offerings ran the gamut from the comic book worlds of Marvel and DC, to the cinematic universes of both, with a healthy dose of Star Wars interspersed to keep things groovy.
Hot Toys Brings Its Movie Magic to SDCC With Incredible Results
On the list of companies that garner the most attention and acclaim from toy collectors, you'll find Hot Toys very close to the top. The hyper-realistic offerings from the Hong Kong company do fetch a premium price, but there aren't a lot of competitors that are able to do mixed-media one-sixth scale figures quite like Hot Toys. As always, one of the highlights of San Diego Comic-Con is seeing all the prototypes for upcoming releases at Sideshow Collectibles' (the US distributor for Hot Toys) booth. With Thor: Ragnarok, Justice League, and Star Wars licenses under its belt, Hot Toys SDCC 2017 showings already have us painfully staring at our bank accounts.
Radio Flyer’s Luke Skywalker Landspeeder Is the Star Wars Toy You Always Dreamed Of
Oh to be a kid again in this day and age of advanced technology. While we had Big Wheels and Power Wheels growing up, today's kids have things like Mercedes cars and BMWs to drive around the playground. There's probably a Tesla out there too, what with it being the leading electric car and all. Those are cool and all, and they made me mildly jealous, but not nearly as much as learning Radio Flyer is releasing a battery-driven Landspeeder from Star Wars in a few months. I haven't wanted to be a kid again so much in my life.
Fox Has The ‘Nerve’ To Hire Directors For Live-Action ‘Mega Man’
For the past 30 years, Mega Man has been a staple of the video game community. In all that time, he’s only had a handful of appearances outside of a gaming console. Since the early ’90s, most fans of the Blue Bomber have had only his short-lived (and very bad) animated show and co-starring gig on the Captain N animated series (also very bad) to “enjoy.” In 2015 however, news of a live-action film starring Capcom’s resident robot hero got our hopes up. Barely anything has been heard about that feature since, but today it appears Mega Man may have found its directors.
Outstanding ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Figures Lead Mezco’s SDCC 2017 Reveals
There are going to be a lot of new goodies shown off this week during San Diego Comic-Con, but few companies have us eagerly awaiting the first peeks at new products like we are with Mezco Toyz. I've been extolling the virtues of the One:12 Collective for a few years now, and Mezco continually outdoes itself with each subsequent release. With its teasers of new One:12 Collective Thor: Ragnarok figures, and more, debuting tonight at Comic-Con, that is definitely still the case.
