You’re probably going to want to get the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two Collection Blu-ray box set anyway, what with the six movies and 166 hours of extra material and all, but if you were somehow unconvinced, we offer up this video as a taste of what you get when you make that purchase. The video above is never before seen footage of Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista auditioning for Guardians of the Galaxy back in early 2013.

Here we see Pratt as Peter Quill (in a very makeshift costume) and Bautista as Drax (in a much more grey skintone), working out a scene from the beginning of the movie when Quill has to bargain with Drax to keep him from killing Gamora. It’s easy in hindsight to say this, but it’s hard to imagine anyone else but these two in their roles. Compare the audition footage above with the final scene in the movie:

Despite being perfect for their parts, they almost weren’t cast. Director James Gunn was looking at Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) for Quill and Jason Momoa for Drax before deciding on Pratt and Bautista.

There’ll be plenty more like this on the Phase Two Collection, which hits stores on December 8. The perfect holiday gift for, well, just about anyone.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 opens in theaters on May 5, 2017.
