Kevin Costner Wants to Direct a 10-Hour Western
Kevin Costner currently shares the screen with Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae in the new release Hidden Figures, but the frequent actor hasn’t gotten behind the camera in some time. He took the Oscars by storm as the helmer behind Dances with Wolves in 1990, followed that up with the bizarro The Postman in 1997, and returned in 2003 with the Western Open Range. But for the past 13 years, it’s been all radio silence from Costner as to when audiences can expect another go at directing. As he’s hit the interview circuit to promote Hidden Figures, however, the actor has floated an idea for a grand project on a scale unlike anything he’s attempted before.

Kevin Costner has been spotted around Hollywood limbering up his mouth muscles, practicing his walk-and-talk, and getting comfortable with the phrase “I’m really quite something,” all of which can only mean one thing: He’s in negotiations for a role in Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming directorial debut, Molly’s Game. And while none of that first part is, strictly speaking, “true,” that second part sure is. (According to a new exclusive from Deadline, at least.)

‘Hidden Figures’ Trailer: Three Women Win the Space Race
It’s still not easy for women in the STEM industry, and it was even harder in the 1960s. It’s rare to get a glimpse behind the scenes of auspicious historical events like the success of Project Mercury, and even rarer for the movie to look like so much fun. The new trailer for Hidden Figures gives us just that, with Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe portraying the real-life women who helped NASA get ahead in the Space Race that seems as honest to history as it is entertaining.
