The Weinstein Company has a notorious history of dumping projects after sitting on them for ages, and now harvey is poised to do the same with Suite Francaise, the World War II drama starring Michelle Williams and Matthias Schoenaerts. The movie will be premiering on Lifetime on May 22, to little fanfare, so set your DVRs accordingly.
The “honey trap” has long been a staple in spy fiction for nearly a century. The femme fatale trained in the art of seduction acting as a double agent vs. the aloof, professional spy whose only weakness is a great pair of legs or eyes or nostrils or whatever. Red Sparrow, based on the novel of the same name by veteran CIA officer Jason Matthews, brings this kind of film noir tale into the modern day: Jennifer Lawrence will play Russian intelligence officer Dominkia Egorova, who becomes a sort of reluctant Mata Hari and is assigned to an American CIA agent. The Hunger Games’ Francis Lawrence is directing, and the film just cast Jeremy Irons and Matthias Schoenaerts.
To be fair, that's a pretty believable headline. If Tilda Swinton started a glam rock band tomorrow, she'd be the biggest music star on the planet in a matter of seconds. That's sort of the space she occupies in the trailer for A Bigger Splash, which reunites her with the director of I Am Love for a new dramedy that features Swinton basically playing a female version of David Bowie, by the looks of it.
Just being handsome isn’t going to get Carey Mulligan to marry you. Sorry, dudes, but such is the case in the new trailer for Far From the Madding Crowd, based on the classic novel by Thomas Hardy. Mulligan stars in the upcoming drama as the elegantly named Bathsheba Everdene (take that, Katniss), who attracts a trio of pretty suitable suitors, but here’s the thing: she’s not interested in marrying any of them.
We first saw a trailer for ‘The Loft’ way back in 2012, and since then this thriller remake has languished in studio limbo, bouncing from Universal over to Open Road films. Originally slated for a 2014 release, the movie finally has a new release date, hitting theaters in January. Along with the new release date comes a new trailer, in which a group of married dudes buy a loft so they can have affairs on the down low. Everything is great for these jackasses until one of the women they brought to their pleasure pad is murdered. You know how it goes.
