CBS’ announcement and pickup of its Limitless TV series came with the unsurprising attachment that original film star Bradley Cooper would pitch in as executive producer. Now however, we’ve learned not only that Cooper will appear in the pilot, but also that the Guardians of the Galaxy star will even recur from time to time, picking up his role from the film.

The prospect of a ‘Limitless’ TV series to follow Bradley Cooper’s 2011 “10% of your brain” thriller has been floating around for a few years now, but CBS may be the one to finally make it happen. The ‘Limitless’ follow-up has officially been given a pilot order, along with new details on how the series would tie in with the original film.

A couple of weeks ago, we learned that ‘Star Trek’ writer and producer Roberto Orci would no longer be making his directorial debut on ‘Star Trek 3.’ Shortly after, ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise helmer Justin Lin was tapped to direct the film, while rumors swirled that Orci had been booted over issues with the script. Those rumors seem to have been confirmed now, as Orci has revealed that he is only acting as a producer on ‘Star Trek 3' and nothing else.

A few weeks back, Roberto Orci parted ways with ‘Star Trek 3,’ leaving the director’s chair vacant. While rumors about the reasons for Orci’s departure abounded (the script, clashes with Paramount), there was a much bigger concern: Who would step up to direct the third ‘Star Trek’ film, which is scheduled for release next year during the original series’ 50th anniversary? The answer is ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise director Justin Lin.

Boy, when they named the last ‘Star Trek’ movie ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ they weren’t kidding. The finished film received decent reviews from critics, but did only so-so in theaters, and quickly became Trekkies’ least-favorite movie in the franchise’s near-50-year history. (Yes, they hated it even more than ‘Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.’) As the series began to move ahead with ‘Star Trek 3,’ the franchise lost its director, J.J. Abrams, to its bitter rival ‘Star Wars,’ and then lost his replacement, Roberto Orci. Why did Orci leave? I don’t know; I’m a doctor, not a high-powered Hollywood agent, dammit! (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

Bradley Cooper's 2011 drug thriller 'Limitless' has been given a production commitment at CBS for a TV sequel series to the film, with Cooper on board to produce with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, and theatrical director Neil Burger on board to direct the pilot.

While 'Star Trek' alum Leonard Nimoy make an appearance in both 'Star Trek' and 'Star Trek Into Darkness,' William Shatner, another one of the most recognized figures from days of 'Trek' past, hasn't, but this could all change for 'Star Trek 3.' Roberto Orci, who's been attached to the project for some time following J.J. Abrams' move to 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' reportedly wants to reunite these two buddies onscreen for the third installment.
