Last month, we reported on Paramount’s plans to continue their Transformers franchise, following Michael Bay’s decision to exit the director’s chair to focus on non-robot projects (we’ll see). According to reports, the studio plans on not only releasing another sequel, but expanding the universe with spinoffs, hiring Akiva Goldsman to oversee a creative team of writers. Hasbro has now confirmed those plans, along with the intention to release a new Transformers movie in 2017.

A few years ago, director Ron Howard, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, and producer Brian Grazer launched an ambition plan to make a series of movies and a companion TV series based on Stephen King’s The Dark Tower novels for Universal. And then: silence. Now, long after everyone assumed that this entire project was dead and buried and possibly in other hands, The Dark Tower has ben brought back to life at Sony where yes, the plan is still to make a film and TV series following the same characters.

Since Michael Bay decided to make Transformers: Age of Extinction his last directorial outing with the franchise, it’s been unclear just where the series is heading. We’d heard talk of Mark Wahlberg returning to continue the storyline that began with last summer’s film, but little else since then. Taking a cue from Disney’s Star Wars plans (along with every other major studio’s “expanded universe” attempts), Paramount has hired Akiva Goldsman to create a “writers room” and brainstorm new sequel and spinoff ideas.

'Fringe' alumni Jeff Pinkner and Akiva Goldsman have been tasked with conjuring a pilot for the latest TV reboot, but what network would a potential 'Ghost' TV series land on?

The first trailer for Akiva Goldsman's directorial debut 'Winter's Tale' will probably make the most sense to those who've read the Mark Helprin book. We're a little unsure of what to make of it, though it stars Colin Farrell as a charming thief and Russell Crowe as a bad guy (and possible sorcerer), so it could be worth watching.
