Seems that Lucasfilm is reassessing its priorities following the underwhelming debut of Solo: A Star Wars Story. The studio has now released two spinoffs that have failed to dazzle audiences, and while neither movie is outright horrible, they aren’t exactly memorable, either. According to a new report, Lucasfilm has decided to put its future Star Wars spinoffs on hold for the time being while they focus on the franchise’s meat and potatoes.

As with the previous Star Wars Story, reactions to Solo are pretty…unenthusiastic…leading many fans and critics to ponder if Lucasfilm should even continue with this whole spinoff thing. Seemingly sensing a disturbance in the Force, Lucasfilm is doing their best to restore balance by hiring James Mangold to direct a Boba Fett spinoff.

From a Certain Point of View is a new Star Wars anthology book comprised of a number of short stories told from perspectives all over the galaxy far, far away, from Stormtroopers to X-wing pilots to one helmeted bounty hunter. If you’re one of those people who prefers to listen to your books, good news: the voice cast for the audiobook version of this anthology is pretty stellar.

You may not immediately recognize the name Jason Wingreen, but the prolific actor had almost 200 credits to his name, including the original voice of fan-favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back. The actor, whose voice was replaced in Lucas’ notorious DVD re-release of the trilogy, has passed away at the age of 95, leaving behind a legacy of roles that extend far beyond that galaxy far, far away.

Where last time DC’s Legends of Tomorrow put on their best Guardians of the Galaxy for a new trailer, now the Arrow-Flash spinoff has taken aim at a different Disney branch. Just who is the masked ‘Boba Fett’-style baddie taking on the Legends in a new 2016 trailer?

Following the highly-publicized drama and subsequent disappointment of Fantastic Four, Josh Trank exited (or was let go from) Lucasfilm and Disney’s Boba Fett solo film. The studios are reportedly still planning on making that film, and a new rumor suggests that they came close to hiring Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray for the gig — but even more interesting is who they want to play the famed bounty hunter.

While he only has only four lines of dialogue and you never see his face, Boba Fett has gone on to become one of the most popular characters in Star Wars lore. But, it turns out his iconic design was actually just taken from a rejected sketch for Darth Vader. We’ve heard rumors for about a year now about Boba Fett’s involvement in an upcoming Star Wars anthology film. The first, Star Wars: Rogue One, centers on a group of smugglers, while reports have suggested that either Josh Trank’s abandoned spinoff would be the Boba Fett movie, or that the notorious bounty hunter would appear in the young Han Solo film. We still don’t officially know if or when we’ll see Boba Fett again, but this fan trailer makes a good case for giving the character his own spinoff.

It was quite a surprise when Josh Trank no-showed his big panel at last spring’s Star Wars Celebration. As described by one journalist, Trank’s name was still being advertised “on the jumbotron at the convention center just moments before the panel began,” when his absence was explained by moderator Pablo Hidalgo, who claimed Trank was “under the weather.” That made it much less of a surprise when, a few weeks later, Lucasfilm announced Trank was leaving the Star Wars spinoff film he’d been developing with the company, supposedly to do something more personal and “under the radar.”

May the 4th is known throughout the galaxy as Star Wars Day. So it’s the perfect time for this major bit of news, via TheWrap: the second Star Wars “Anthology” film (aka the spinoff films separate from the new trilogy that begins with Star Wars: The Force Awakens) will be an “origin story” for Boba Fett.
