It’s been a long time coming, but after almost a decade, producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are ready to start working on the Friday the 13th reboot. The original 1980 Friday the 13th is a horror classic that introduced hockey-masked lunatic Jason Vorhees to the world, but its sequels over the years have left a lot to be desired. Even the 2009 remake was just not that good. Now, it sounds like Fuller and Form, who also produced The Purge series, are ready for another go at it.

A new Friday the 13th sequel has been in the works for a long while now with The Signal director David Bruckner attached to direct. We only recently began to hear more about the upcoming project via producer Brad Fuller, who’s been assuring fans that yes, this sequel is definitely, finally happening. To make us a little optimistic about the new installment, Hannibal writer Nick Antosca has been hired to pen the screenplay.

After Paramount dated and rescheduled (and rescheduled) the upcoming sequel, we finally appear to have a new Friday the 13th film hitting theaters in 2016 — the thing is, we haven’t heard much about it. Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller has revealed new details today — on Friday the 13th, naturally — about the upcoming sequel, why it’s taken so long and what we might expect from the project.
