Today in release date news: Guy Ritchie’s Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur has been pushed back from its 2016 slot to February 2017, with Warner Bros. trying to capitalize on the box office precedent set by another violent film directed by a white British guy. Meanwhile, the long-awaited Bad Santa 2 has been given an official 2016 release — just in time for next year’s holiday season.

Alfred Hitchcock had a saying: “Logic is dull.” On the basis of Crimson Peak, it’s pretty clear Guillermo del Toro feels the same way.

Kurt Sutter will soon return to FX without missing a beat from Sons of Anarchy’s final ride, this time around heading to medieval Wales for The Bastard Executioner. Already the series had a bit of Teller carryover in Katey Sagal, but how likely are Charlie Hunnam or other SAMCRO greats to put in appearances on The Bastard Executioner?

While discussing his upcoming role in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur movie (where he apparently plays a Knight who sells Levi’s jeans in catalogs), the conversation turned to effects, which then turned to Pacific Rim, which then led to Hunnam sticking his foot in his mouth and then trying unsuccessfully to remove it.

Oh boy. In true Guy Ritchie fashion, the director’s King Arthur movie is supposed to be a departure from the classic tales, featuring Average White Man Charlie Hunnam in the role of the storied hero. We were not aware, however, that the King Arthur movie is merely a ploy to sell hunky “Men of the Round Table” calendars to your aunts.

The latest batch of character posters from Crimson Peak echo the first motion poster for Guillermo del Toro’s gothic horror story, which featured Mia Wasikowska bathed in neon blue and red. That vivid coloring contrasted with empty blackness made quite the impression, and the latest characters posters are similarly striking.

After watching the first two trailers for Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, it’s fair to say that we’re all pretty sufficiently pumped for the director’s gothic haunted house tale. The film looks absolutely gorgeous and properly eerie, but these new character posters take a different approach, seemingly taking inspiration from one of del Toro’s favorite horror productions: Disney’s Haunted Mansion attraction.

First announced as Knights of the Roundtable, Guy Ritchie’s next film features a cast that includes Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law, Eric Bana and Djimon Hounsou. It now appears that the title may have changed, but we do have a couple of updates from the project: our first official look from the set of Ritchie’s King Arthur film, as well as an official synopsis, which describes the film as “bold”—you know, like Doritos.
