Given that David F. Sandberg launched his career on the basis of a viral YouTube short film, it only makes sense that Warner Bros. would look to leverage that narrative for the release of Annabelle: Creation, the fourth film in The Conjuring cinematic universe. Back in July, Warner Bros. announced the contest on its site, encouraging fans to create their own new additions to The Conjuring universe. The contest would feature winners in multiple countries, meaning multiple chances to win.

There’s pretty much no way the DCEU could make a Shazam! movie and keep the same dire, Twilight of the Gods tone of previous entries like Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman. The superhero’s secret identity is a child, Billy Batson, who, when he shouts “SHAZAM!” transforms into an adult with all the powers of Superman. So he’s Superman, but with none of the sense of responsibility. What’s more fun than that? Director David F. Sandberg says he’ll obviously be sticking with a lighter mood for this movie.

Because any B.O. success warrants a sequel these days, David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) is hard at work on a new one, which released a teaser last fall. Today we’ve learned that the Annabelle sequel’s official title is Annabelle: Creation.
