The best-selling game franchise will finally get adapted.

For all their many faults, you can’t knock the studios of Hollywood for any lack of perseverance. No matter how many video game movies tank at the box-office, they’re just going to keep making them in the hopes that eventually, something will work. Having failed to synthesize an engaging cinematic experience from the act of shooting and/or beating the crap out of enemies over and over and over again, they’ve held out hope that one day, the millions of self-described gamers will get off the couch and make a hit out of some new tentpole. Will it work? Probably not, but it could, and that’s more than good enough for them!

Microsoft's got some Xbox 360 stocking stuffers in store for Xbox Live Gold members this month with Gears of War and Shoot Many Robots.

Three signed replicas of the Lancer rifle from the Gears of War series have been put up for auction. The proceeds of the sales will go towards paying the medical bills for Ana Kessel, an interning artist with Insomniac games, who was the victim of a hit and run car accident.

Another massive video game property is readying itself for a movie adaptation; this time, it's Microsoft's massively successful 'Gears of War,' which has had a few false starts in the past but now looks ready to finally make the leap to the big screen. And who's going to help make that happen?
