Heroes Reborn

NBC has taken its Heroes Reborn gag impressively far with the crafting of an actual trailer shown at the upfronts (though one that curiously never surfaced online), and now another returning cast member has pledged to the elaborate joke. Prior series star Greg Grunberg will turn his head and squint through NBC’s Heroes Reborn revival, at least until the network decides its ridiculous prank has gone far enough.

Now that most of the major pickups, cancellations and renewals have come to pass, the core networks set about revealing their fall schedules, as well as trailers and loglines for their latest offerings. First up is NBC, with a look at everything from the Jaimie Alexander Naked in A Bag Show, to Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s new comedy and even Wesley Snipes‘ new drama.

Pushing dangerously past the point of pranking shelf-life, NBC’s Heroes Reborn continues to insist on itself as an actual thing that will exist on television. Now with Upfronts 2015 in play, the network’s most elaborate joke even has his own photos, and a tentative weekly scheduling for the fall.

April Fools may have come and gone, yet NBC curiously presses on with its elaborate prank that Heroes will return to TV as the revived Heroes Reborn. After the addition of its first returning superpower, former series star Jimmy Jean-Louis will get in on the gag by joining Heroes Reborn to reprise his role as menacing mind-eraser “The Haitian.”

TV returns seem all the rage these days, and while Heroes Reborn technically beat the current crop by months with its 2014 announcement, NBC remains bafflingly adamant it come to fruition. Original series star Masi Oka has been confirmed to return as the time-bending Hiro Nakamura, alongside a slew of new recruits and an apparent fall 2015 airdate.

Initially announced at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, NBC’s Heroes Reborn has had something of a staggered development, between Jack Coleman’s return as Noah Bennett, Chuck star Zachary Levi’s addition, and, well … that’s it. Until now! Once Upon a Time and Pirates star Robbie Kay has joined the Heroes cast, cementing that this thing is definitely still happening. Really!

As somebody regrettably reminded NBC they’d announced ‘Heroes Reborn’ back in 2014, the rebirth of the once-mighty superhero drama continues powering up for its summer premiere. Enter the first trailer-teaser aired during the Super Bowl, as HRG takes on his most fearsome enemy yet: Chuck Bartowski!

We haven’t yet a clear picture of NBC’s forthcoming ‘Heroes Reborn’ reboot (and in truth had hoped they’d forgotten about it), but more and more it seems ‘Chuck’ star Zachary Levi will be leading a brand-new cast. Following earlier uncertainty over the idea, original series star Zachary Quinto has confirmed that his breakout villainous role of Gabriel “Sylar” Gray won’t be ‘Reborn’ among the new ‘Heroes.’

Just when it seemed enough time had past that NBC might simply have forgotten its ill-advised ‘Heroes’ revival ‘Heroes Reborn,’ someone went and reminded them. Following the lone casting of original series star Jack Coleman, the peacock now reports that ‘Chuck’ star Zachary Levi will lead the new incarnation of Tim Kring’s ‘Heroes’ in a major role.

Earlier this week 'Heroes' alum Ali Larter alum became the second original cast member to shoot down the possibility of appearing in NBC's 2015 revival 'Heroes Reborn,' but what of the franchise's arguably most enduring character, that of Zachary Quinto's villainous Sylar? Now, the 'Star Trek' star and 'American Horror Story' vet has officially weighed in on potentially joining NBC's 'Heroes Reborn.'
