‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ to Release Statesman Bourbon
Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman sequel is taking Eggsy & Co. across the pond to the good ol’ US of A, where they’ll meet the members of Statesman, the American iteration of the top-notch super-secret spy agency — including new characters played by Jeff Bridges and Channing Tatum. As you can see in this new featurette for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the agents aren’t the only notable thing about Statesman, which manufactures its very own signature bourbon. And it looks like Kingsman fans (of legal drinking age, of course) will have a chance to taste that branded booze relatively soon.

If you blink, you won’t just miss a couple of frames of the new Kingsman: The Golden Circle trailer — you’ll miss the whole thing. In keeping with Kingsman’s subversive, irreverent attitude, the first teaser for the upcoming sequel sidesteps the usual format: You won’t find a pointless five-second clip here. Instead, 20th Century Fox has served up the entire forthcoming trailer, condensed to 10 hyper-edited seconds.

Well it’s about dang time, wouldn’t you say? The first photos from Kingsman: The Golden Circle have debuted, revealing new American spy characters played by Channing Tatum (in a cowboy hat!), Halle Berry and Jeff Bridges. Oh, and Taron Egerton’s Eggsy is back, too, and sporting a rather sharp orange suit — somewhere, Karl Lagerfeld just felt the most mysterious chill abruptly run down his spine during his morning Diet Coke.

When you ask Marvel fans what their favorite Marvel movies are, more often than not, 2008’s Iron Man will be on their list somewhere. Even those who don’t consider themselves superhero movie aficionados will agree that Iron Man is still one of Marvel’s best, if not the best. Jeff Bridges’ Obadiah Stane is also one of the best MCU villains, but apparently he was more of a hero during the movie’s production. Bridges revealed that he, Robert Downey Jr, and Jon Favreau actually reworked parts of the script days before shooting started.

The road signs in Hell or High Water kept catching my eye. They’re like a Greek chorus, commenting on the action in the foreground of the film. During the opening sequence, the robbery of a small Texas bank, the camera pans across the front of a Goodyear Tire Shop, essentially mocking the two brothers carrying out the robbery. (Their mother has just died and they’ve turned to crime to make ends meet.) A few moments later they drive past a “Closing Down” billboard, and there are also signs advertising “Debt Relief,” “Pass With Care,” and “Fast Cash,” all tempting (or perhaps taunting) these two men as they engineer a crime wave in West Texas.

Back in June, actor John Turturro talked to The Hollywood Reporter about his ongoing efforts to make a film featuring his popular bowling lothario Jesus from The Big Lebowski. In the interview, Turturro explained that the character had actually been created years before the movie as part of a public theater company Turturro had participated in. While the actor described the ongoing legal discussions as “very complicated,” he did claim to have the involvement of the Coen Brothers on the film, although not as the directors.

With every awesome addition to the cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, we ask, “Could this cast get any better?” And then another fantastic actor joins the lineup. So if we just continue saying that after every casting announcement, it shouldn’t be long before Tom Hardy and Tom Cruise and Charlize Theron join this thing, right? That day isn’t today, but the Kingsman sequel does have another very cool addition: Jeff Bridges.

To be fair, every film with Jeff Bridges is a magical journey, but perhaps none more enchanting than The Little Prince. The official trailer for the long-developing animated film based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s acclaimed children’s novella has landed, promising a lovely, sweet and sometimes funny adventure, with exceptionally beautiful animation.

Since Sony partnered with Marvel for another Spider-Man reboot, Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb has been free to pursue other projects. In addition to producing the Limitless TV series for CBS, Webb has lined up a couple of new films: Gifted and The Only Living Boy in New York. The director will team-up with another superhero star for the former, while a couple of excellent actors have joined Miles Teller in the latter.
