HBO’s geopolitical comedy The Brink seemed somewhat touch-and-go for a bit, as Dwayne Johnson’s Ballers picked up a Season 2 renewal, while Brink’s all-star cast of Tim Robbins, Jack Black and Aasif Mandvi drew closer to expiring contracts. That said, The Brink made it to the very edge with a Season 2 pickup, confirming its return for 2016.

Prolific producer Jerry Weintraub has passed away today at the age of 77, as confirmed by various trades as well as some of his close associates, including director William Friedkin. Weintraub is best known for producing classics such as The Karate Kid and Diner, as well as contemporary favorites like Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s 11 trilogy.
