A few years back, director Paul Greengrass was attempting to get a Jimi Hendrix biopic off the ground, but without the okay from the late rock icon’s estate, development came to a halt. Whatever differences Greengrass and Legendary Pictures had with the estate now seem to have been settled, as the director and studio are moving forward with their planned biopic, which now has an official blessing.

Similar to that proverbial tree falling in the woods with no one around to hear it, if a studio releases a Jimi Hendrix biopic without using any of Hendrix’s signature songs, did the film really happen?

The people of Dublin, Ireland received quite the treat yesterday when musician Andre 3000 (real name: Andre Benjamin) was filming scenes for 'All Is By My Side,' in which he plays the late rock legend Jimi Hendrix.

A Jimi Hendrix biopic has been around for years and years and has a number of actors attached to starring as the iconic rocker. Terrence Howard, Laurence Fishburne, Lenny Kravitz and even LL Cool J were all at one point interested and/or attached in starring as Hendrix.
