Katherine Waterston is the latest actor to take on the rich world of the Alien movies, and her new character is the latest female protagonist to take on the xenomorphs (or Neomorphs, as we’ve heard whispers of a new breed of alien stalking the galaxy). her character is a science officer aboard the ship Covenant, and Waterston describes her journey as a venture “into the unknown.”

Space is terrifying; at this point, that much is beyond debate. All people do there is die! (And make game-changing scientific discoveries, sure, but at what cost?) Space tried to murder Sandra Bullock in Gravity, it came back for Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar, and that’s not even counting all the space-set films that are supposed to be horrifying. None moreso than Ridley Scott’s 1979 masterpiece Alien, back in the news these days due to its upcoming sequel Alien: Covenant, the trailer for which made for a primo excuse to leave the dinner table and its various political arguments this Christmas night.

Watch as a sinister particle drifts into an android’s ear, cringe as a man leans over a slowly hatching alien egg, marvel at the sweeping, beautiful landscapes of a planet we all know is full of creatures that want to kill us! Oh, and I am never, ever taking a shower again.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has been releasing so many clips lately that you can almost watch the entire movie before its premiere without leaving your computer. Rowling’s new spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, travels back nearly 70 years to 1926 before the events of the first Potter movie to tell a whole new story in a new setting with (almost) all new characters. Reviving the magical universe from the second biggest franchise of all time is a pretty risky move, but Fantastic Beasts does a good job of blending the familiar with the new.

Now, two more stars are looking to join the cast.

As of today, we have exactly 365 days to the release of Alien: Covenant, the new Prometheus sequel / Alien prequel from Ridley Scott. To celebrate the occasion, 20th Century Fox has released a new behind-the-scenes video featuring Katherine Waterston’s character, who appears to be enjoying a little hyper-sleep space-nap.

Our first look at Katherine Waterston’s character in Alien: Covenant was a bit shadowy, but the latest photo from the set offers a much better sneak peek at the actress’ new hero — and she’s sporting a very familiar look. Ridley Scott celebrated the end of production on his upcoming Alien prequel by sharing a new image, in which he poses opposite Waterston in what could just as easily be a Calvin Klein ad.

Hey, it’s an Alien movie. That comes with the territory.
