Marvel’s box office-shattering crossover has made the TV timelines even more complicated, and perhaps severed their connection the MCU. Maybe that’s a good thing.

Some of Marvel’s most beloved and diverse superheroes are headed to the small-screen. The comics giant is working on a new animated Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors project, featuring fan-favorites like Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Spider-Gwen, and some familiar voices from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel raised eyebrows adding yet a second series to Freeform after Cloak and Dagger, but the New Warriors may have powered through. Reports indicate the half-hour superhero comedy has outgrown its Freeform home, and will look for a new network with a potential two-season order.

Marvel managed to spring its New Warriors casting announcement in the weeks before Comic-Con 2017, but the Freeform action comedy has plenty of surprises yet. Enlisted and Community alum Keith David now joins the supporting cast in an authoritative new role.

Just a few months after unveiling a Squirrel-centric character roster, Marvel’s New Warriors series has officially cast its six lead roles — and yes, they’ve officially found their Squirrel Girl.

At long last, Marvel squirreled away our hopes and dreams with news that a New Warriors TV series was coming to Freeform, courtesy of Scrubs alum Kevin Biegel. We knew Squirrel Girl was in the mix, but meet the other Marvel heroes populating the team, and check out some teasery artwork.

If Cloak & Dagger and The Runaways weren’t a Marvel-ous enough TV expansion, Freeform is upping the ante with some New Warriors. The reportedly Squirrel Girl-centric Marvel comedy has officially landed alongside Cloak & Dagger at Freeform.

Lest you think Marvel’s branch-out into Hulu for a Runaways series was unusual enough, things are about to get even more squirrel-ly. Not only is a New Warriors comedy series officially in development, but fan-favorite Squirrel Girl might take center stage on the live-action project.
