One of the most hotly anticipated films on the docket for this year is Dolan’s The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, the filmmaker’s first foray into English-language scripting and his first collaboration with Hollywood A-listers. Another round of casting has brought even more wattage into this buzzy production, with Natalie Portman, Nicholas Hoult, and The Slap’s Thandie Newton all joining the cast in unspecified roles.

There are approximately 134 Robin Hood movies in development at various studios (okay, it’s actually more like four or five), but Lionsgate is rushing to get their version to the big screen first. The studio recently hired Peaky Blinders director Otto Hathurst (whose name sounds like a character from Peaky Blinders) to helm Robin Hood: Origins, and now they’ve come up with a shortlist of potential leading men to play the rebooted version of the Prince of Thieves.

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve gotten some sneak peeks at X-Men: Apocalypse via photos in Entertainment Weekly, featuring new characters like Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse, Olivia Munn’s Psylocke, and Alexandra Shipp’s Storm. But what about the other new, young mutants? 20th Century Fox has released a gallery of high-res photos featuring Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Cyclops and more.

'Dark Places' Trailer: Charlize Theron Survives a Massacre
The first U.S. trailer for Dark Places has finally arrived, featuring Charlize Theron in the latest film adaptation of one of best-selling author Gillian Flynn’s novels. Flynn also wrote the novel (and subsequent screenplay) for last year’s Gone Girl, though it doesn’t seem like Dark Places is going to be as big of a hit — the film is currently available on DirecTV almost two months ahead of its theatrical release.

'The Crow' Loses Another Crow as Jack Huston Exits
The upcoming reboot/remake/whatever of The Crow has had a pretty hard time getting off the ground. Luke Evans was originally supposed to star in the new version, set to be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), but both Evans and Fresnadillo exited the project. The reigns were then handed to director Corin Hardy, with Boardwalk Empire star Jack Huston attached to star. But now Huston has also departed the project, leaving the role of the goth hero vacant once again.

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Review: The Ultimate Car Chase Movie
“This is a movie that strains at the leash of the possible, a movie of great visionary wonders.” That lovely sentence concluded Roger Ebert’s 1985 review of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Thirty years later, Mad Max is finally back in a new sequel, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Ebert’s words feel truer than ever. Fury Road is an incredible achievement, one that strains so hard at the leash of the possible that it eventually breaks free and barrels headlong into the realm of insane genius. Forget Max Rockatansky; director George Miller, the guy who co-conceived and shot this gorgeous, glorious lunacy, is the true madman here. And the true hero for having pulled it off.

'Mad Max: Fury Road' Final Trailer: Survive the Wasteland
Now that Avengers: Age of Ultron is arriving this weekend, we can start focusing more of our excitement (if even possible) on Mad Max: Fury Road. We’ve got one final trailer for the film, and it features perhaps the most dialogue and exposition yet — that’s definitely quite a change from previous trailers for the film. What hasn’t changed: fire, blood, monstrous vehicles, and that lovely day Nicholas Hoult has been going on about.

If you live in France, the next Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult film you’ll see won’t be Mad Max: Fury Road — it’ll be Dark Places, the latest Gillian Flynn adaptation, which weirdly hasn’t been getting nearly as much attention as we thought it might, given the success of Gone Girl. Dark Places doesn’t have a U.S. release date yet (yeah, we have no idea), but a new clip has landed online to give you a little peek at what this new Flynn adaptation is all about.

We're still reeling from Bryan Singer's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' which initially looked like another X-disaster along the lines of 'The Last Stand,' but proved us so wrong with its incredible cast, story and special effects. While we wait for the film to hit DVD and Blu-ray in October, and 'X-Men: Apocalypse' to drop in (sigh) 2016, let's take a look at all the movie magic happening behind the scenes of the summer's epic X-Men movie in this VFX breakdown.
