There’s suspense baked right into the title of It Comes At Night, the upcoming feature from Trey Edward Shults, director of last year’s self-assured debut Krisha. So what is the ‘it,’ and why is it coming at night? The attendees of the Overlook Film Festival are keeping mum, having gotten the first glimpse at the film this past weekend when it popped up as the festival’s secret surprise screening. They offered rapturous but spoiler-free praise, but luckily for the rest of us, a new trailer and poster have surfaced to shed a little light on what’s going on while simultaneously compounding the mystery.

Four years after announcing his retirement from feature filmmaking, Steven Soderbergh is set to return with a brand new heist movie, Logan Lucky, which he says is a “complete inversion” of his well-known Ocean’s trilogy.

Netflix scooped up a lot of hot property back at the Sundance Film Festival, and after they’ve pulled back the curtain on the award-winning I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore come February 24, their next big unveiling will be The Discovery. The high-concept sci-fi drama will be fully available through the streaming service on March 31, and while the element of mystery has remained a major part of the film’s advertising campaign, a new trailer does offer some more clues on what the deal is. The most important reveal of all: Mary Steenburgen is in this film.

The trickle of trailers hyping Sundance premieres continues with a new glimpse at The Discovery, an enigmatic sci-fi project that Netflix snatched up back in the summer. As we say in showbiz, there’s a lot of heat behind this one: the stacked cast collects endearing goof Jason Segel, Rooney Mara (how dare she look this good with bleached-blonde hair), Kirsten Dunst spouse Jesse Plemons, starlet on the rise Riley Keough, and how about that, Sundance king Robert Redford. Director Charlie McDowell also arrives with a handsome pedigree, having last helmed the metaphysical romance The One I Love, and it looks like he’s going high-concept once again for his new feature.

Imagine if Larry Clark was a woman, capable of depicting the inner lives of disenfranchised youth with all the psychic nuance and sensitivity estrogen could provide. Imagine a road trip through Middle America as presented by Claire Denis; now imagine that the brutal emotional intensity and distinct feeling of dread remain intact, while the threat of grotesque acts of violence lurk on the periphery, merely imagined and never realized. If you can imagine that, you might come close to approximating the experience of watching American Honey, the latest stumbling-of-age drama from Fish Tank director Andrea Arnold.

The name is Bond…Bail Bond. At least that seems to be the case in these new photos from the set of Steven Soderbergh’s Logan Lucky, which features a nearly unrecognizable Daniel Craig alongside a very recognizable Adam Driver. Both actors are sporting prison stripes in the pics, which also offer a glimpse at Riley Keough’s character. In addition to the set photos, a new report reveals that Sebastian Stan has joined the cast of what’s been described as a “hillbilly heist” movie.

Starz’s efforts to take Steven Soderbergh’s The Girlfriend Experience to TV appear to have paid off, but don’t get too attached to any characters from Season 1. The network has officially confirmed an extended renewal for Season 2, albeit one with “entirely new characters and plotlines.”

Those rumors from a few months back have (thankfully) proven true, as it would appear that Steven Soderbergh is plotting his first feature film since 2013. Titled Logan Lucky, the heist film reunites Soderbergh with Magic Mike star Channing Tatum, and although Michael Shannon has unfortunately dropped out of the project, a few more actors have joined the lineup.

When trafficking in premium cable series about the exploration of escort culture, “NSFW” feels like a given. Still, with a name and pedigree like Steven Soderbergh or Starz’s The Girlfriend Experience TV adaptation, the series is expected to draw plenty of eyes.
