Earlier today, a short list of the possible directors for 'Bond 24' was released. It missed a name. Sam Mendes, who helmed 'Skyfall,' is now back in the running to take on the next James Bond adventure.

Many of us loved the latest James Bond movie, 'Skyfall,' which reflects in the film's $1 billion worldwide box office, but the film is something its director, Sam Mendes, does not want to repeat. We all know (or rather should know by now) that he doesn't have plans to return for the next 007 movie -- in fact, the very thought of doing so makes him "physically ill."

A few weeks ago we learned that 'Skyfall' director Sam Mendes would not be returning for Bond 24,  which was a bit shocking considering the enormous financial and critical success of the latest James Bond adventure. However, Bond franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson aren't letting him go too easy: they say he'll be back...just not yet.

About three weeks ago came news that 'Skyfall' director Sam Mendes was close to finalizing a deal to return for 'Bond 24,' the next film in the 007 series.
