Any surprise that Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter would dive right back into FX for medieval drama The Bastard Executioner was compounded by the series’ lackluster performance, quietly airing its season finale only last night. That “season” has notably, and publicly become “series,” as Sutter himself opted to announce its cancellation via a Hollywood Reporter ad.

Already the series had a bit of Teller carryover in Katey Sagal, but how likely are Charlie Hunnam or other SAMCRO greats to put in appearances on The Bastard Executioner?

Kurt Sutter’s FX Bastard Executioner should prove one of the more interesting experiments of the fall (and not just by casting Ed Sheeran), and even after its first trailer, each teaser takes us a little closer into a world of medieval horror. Swords swing, blood flies, and supporting cast are all on display in a new round of Bastard Executioner teases.
