Though the future of the FOX musical dramedy 'Glee' remains up in the air after the tragic death of series star Cory Monteith, it seems the franchise has suffered yet another setback. Oxygen tie-in series 'The Glee Project' has officially been denied a third season, though the reasoning has nothing to do with Monteith's recent passing.

The 'Glee' franchise faces some unique circumstances going forward into a potential fifth season, as FOX continues to negotiate with cast and crew to re-sign -- though a fifth season could abandon the dual-city format and present a very different series next fall. News broke recently that Oxygen's tie-in reality competition 'The Glee Project' wouldn't return for a third season, perhaps fallen to F
